Thought I’d share another great review I received recently from a new customer when I emailed to see how she was liking her new skincare products:

I’m really happy with everything. So much so that I finally threw away my old powder and cleanser.  I feel like my skin looks so much better.  Between the Miracle Set and the mineral powder I think my skin looks much better moisturized without looking or feeling oily.  Also, I am starting to notice some change in the appearance of the lines around my eyes. I’ve also had far fewer blemishes start and the ones I’ve got heal much more quickly. – L

What she is using:  TimeWise Miracle Set, and Mineral Powder Foundation

How long she has been using it:  3 weeks!

The other week I met with a friend who was having issues with acne.  A friend told her to get a facial, however she was hesitant as most are about $100.  We discussed her situation and some ideas and she decided to try the Microdermabrasion Set a couple of times  a week, and also to use the Acne Treatment Gel when blemishes were beginning to appear.  I thought I’d share her email response when I checked in to see how it was working for her:

“Hey Laura! I LOVE the Microdermabrasion set! My face has felt GREAT lately!  Zit free! Every time I use it I think about how glad I am that I bought that instead of a facial! So thanks for the suggestion.”

She ended up only spending $55 on the Microdermabrasion and $7 on the Acne Cream.  AND these will both last her months!  (Please note these aren’t to be used at the same time for optimal results).

I love getting replies like that I have been receiving many lately in regards to Microdermabrasion and also the TimeWise Miracle Set.  Woman are loving the results!  It’s very satisfying to help women feel great about their skin.

From O, The Oprah Magazine, April 2009 – can’t miss it with Michelle Obama on the cover!

“Mary Kay Concealer (bottom, $10; marykay.com).  For us, an awardworthy performance means being utterly imperceptible — so thank you for not noticing us!  Whether you’re looking for a wand that brushes a smudgeproof concealer over blemishes in seconds, a mineral-infused cream that doesn’t look chalky on the darkest complexions, or a silky waterproof formula that camouflages dark circles all day, we’ve got you covered.”

One other reason I personally love this concealer is that it is so easy to find the perfect match.  The shades correspond with your MK foundation whether cream, tinted moisturizer, or mineral powder foundation, so you know exactly which concealer you need!

006693My hands-down favorite Mary Kay product is the Miracle Set.  If I was posed the “island question” this would be the one skincare piece I’d choose to take with me.  Makeup is great for enhancing beauty, but the condition of your skin is the most important.  You only have one face.

THE MIRACLE SET:  (Cleanser, Day and Night Solution, Moisturizer) Why do I love this?  It does it all, with great results!

-cleanses, exfoliates, and refreshes;

-protects against UVA/UVB rays;

-helps relax expression lines;

-delivers vitamins, antiozidants and collagen-enhancing peptides to firm skin;

-hydrates for up to 10 hours.

 The list almost leaves you tired, except it’s doing all the work, not you.

TimeWise 3-in-1 Cleanser:  Why use a cleaser, then toner, then mask, only to have great skin in 10 minutes, when you could have in 2 minutes?  This cleanser is mild enough to use twice a day and leaves my skin the perfect balance of clean, yet not too tight.

Day Solution:  I am all about the spf to protect me from UVA and UVB rays and this one is a spf count of 25!  Add in a little calming peptides to relax my almost 30 year old expression lines, and I’m in.  I love that this serum is so light.  Sometimes spf product can feel heavy, but this is just silky and light.

Night Solution:  Wins the most-improved award…as in it does the work of most improving the condition of my face and fighting the fine lines and wrinkles.  This pretty product with it’s colorful beads of vitamins, antioxidents, and collagen-enhancing peptides, makes me wish I could eat it to get my daily recommended dose as well!

TimeWise Moisturizer:  Love this.  I use it morning and night.  A light moisturizer that leaves me feeling like Goldylocks when she tastes the baby bears porridge –  “Just Right.”  It hydrates me all day and I don’t feel oily or dry.

Customers ask if they can use separately, and of course you can.  But I fully recommend using them all together!  The minimum would the cleanser and moisturizer, but if you want the full anti-aging benefits, use them all.  It’s like asking if the cake will taste as good or look the same without an ingredient.  These products were created to work together to achieve the results.

Oh, yeah, did I mention the results dermatolists saw when tested in a 12-week clinical study?

83% had a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles

Up to 25% improvement in skin elasticity

100% had softer, more supple skin

46% improvement in more even skin tone

bephomejournal_jan09-1The January 2009 issue of Ladies Home Journal highlighted a few products to heal and prevent dry skin in the winter months.  One of them is Mary Kay’s Emollient Night Cream! This night cream can be purchased individually, but is most well known as one of the products in the popular Satin Hands Set.  I use this cream most every night on my hands, although I know many women with dry skin use it on their faces at night.  It is amazing what it can do overnight to heal my dry chapped hands from the cold air and all the hand washing from changing diapers.

023773Mary Kay is presenting this product in a limited edition set of the Emollient Cream in a jar with a travel size tube in a cute gift box.  This is available only until the middle of March.

This product is a great treat for hands, feet, faces in need of some serious TLC.

If you are of an ivory skin tone like I am, you may also feel extremely white in the winter.  Especially in Seattle, with the lack of enough days to catch some vitamin D rays, I am looking pale!  Please someone tell me pale can be in!  I’m not about to head to the tanning beds for some color and expensive cancer enhancers.

I came across this soft and pretty look.  The model’s eyes have Mineral Eye Colors of Precious Pink, Sweet Plum, and Raisin. These colors can do double duty and create bold eyes, but in this case they are applied softly with the Precious Pink, blending them to a glowing look. Cinnamon Stick Blush gives her a rosy glow, along with the Frosted Rose lipstick and Gold Rush gloss to give her a natural and warm tone.  Ivory skin tone is saved from a “death warmed over” to a beautiful winter face!

Michelle Obama has created quite the stir among fans, designers, stylists, and the general public for her fashion and style. She is classy, sophisticated, yet simply beautiful.  She seems to gracefully hold the tension between the elegance of a queen that audiences hope for, yet the simplicity of a loving wife, mom, and that of the person you would expect next door.

The simplicity shows through in her personality and natural beauty.  You get the feeling that she is confident in who she is, and she uses the mediums of fashion and makeup to only enhances and highlight who she is.

One moment I loved this week was at the first Inaugural Ball when Barack said, “Isn’t my wife good-looking?!” and the crowd started clapping and cheering.  Michelle started clapping, smiling and looking at her husband until she realized what he had said and then she laughed and stopped clapping with an “oops” sort of look when she realized everyone was clapping for her!  It was very cute.

The cold dry winter months can be brutal on your face.  Your face may need a little extra TLC in the moisture department if you are experiencing extra dryness often manifested with flaking, irritated skin, and uncomfortable tightness.  Two products that are worth adding in to your beauty return are Mary Kay’s Intense Moisture Cream or Mary Kay’s Oil-Free Hydrating Gel.

Mary Kay Intense Moisture Cream

If you have normal to dry skin, this beautiful jar of Intense Moisture Cream delivers its name.  Hydrating your skin for up to 10 hours, it leaves your skin immediately more radiant and oh so soft with the marine extracts, humectants, vitamin E, and essential minerals such as copper, magnesium, and zinc.  Start by using this on top of your regular moisturizer whenever you feel dry, but especially at night when you go to bed.  Add it into your morning routine if you continue to have dryness throughout the day.

Because of my more combination type skin, I use the Intense Moisture Cream for severe dryness, but I daily use the Oil-Free Hydrating Gel in the winter.  This gel also hydrates the skin for up to 10 hours and restores the skins natural moisture balance.  It’s a silky, non-greasy formula enriched with vitamin E, marine extract, and a green tea extract (good for you!).  It feels great!

Get a free trial size of both when you purchase $40 or more of MK products through March 14.  Click here for more information.

Recently I helped a friend with the makeup for her wedding.  She asked if there was anything to do to make her pores appear smaller, which prompted a little research on my part.  I knew that microdermabrasion over time can make pores appear smaller, minimize fine lines, and can also minimize the appearance of some scars.  So I recommended Mary Kay’s Microdermabrasion Set and told her to use 2-3 times a week.  I wasn’t sure if I would see a difference in the two weeks we had until the wedding.  However, when the day came, I was truly impressed with the results as her pores did appear smaller only two weeks later!

And in a study done by an independent research facility, Mary Kay’s Microdermabrasion Set had these results after only one week of use on the panelists:

85% saw improvement in skin texture
73% saw a reduction in fine lines
71% saw smaller-looking pores

Impressive.  At $55, Mary Kay’s Microdermabrasion Set is well worth the money. Especially when you consider that a popular local salon charges $420 for only 4 sessions of microdermabrasion treatment!

Another tip I learned in my research was to use a primer on the area with larger looking pores, allow to dry, and then follow with desired foundation.  I used MK’s Eye Primer on the area, allowed to dry, and then followed with the Mineral Powder Foundation.  It worked great!  And it looked more natural then using concealer, which can be too noticeable if covering a larger area of skin.

So there is the ticket: Mary Kay’s Microdermabrasion Set for minimizing large pores in a matter of weeks, and Mary Kay’s Eye Primer for a quick cover-up job.

My hands can become really dry during the winter months.  Maybe it’s because they spend too much time in hot soapy dish water.  Or because I change so many diapers each day and wash my hands after each change.  I know it’s not because I clean the bathroom too often!  But something about the cold weather sucks the moisture right out of my hands!  Whatever the reasons may be, there are a few items that keep my hands from drying up completely, and keep my skin from cracking like it used to before I discovered these products!

1) Satin Hands Smoothie Hand Scrub:  I leave this at my bathroom sink.  It has an incredibly yummy peach scent and takes all the dry skin right off.  In fact, this scrub won “best hand scrub” by SELF magazine in 2007.  If you’d like to read some reviews on this, besides my own, go to this website.  A friend once told me that she loves to wash her hands in my bathroom just to use the hand scrub!

2) Satin Hands Hand Cream:  I buy samples to give to people and then end up using half of them for myself It’s not greasy, not sticky, fragrance free, and hydrates for hours so you don’t have to keep applying like cheap hand creams. It is the best and even my husband will use this one!

3) Emollient Night Cream:  I put this on my hands before bed whenever they have had an extra harsh day.    I love what it does to my hands and it also works wonders on foot calluses!  It’s like an overnight miracle to softness.

So, in this political season, I leave you with a famous “quote:” Ask not what your hands can do for you, but what you can do for your hands.
